Sometimes there are days that are just perfect.
Our befriender Julia and her Link Friend, had just such a day this summer. Julia’s Link Friend had mentioned that she would like to visit Kew Gardens, and that she would like Julia to attend the visit with her, just in case she got lost. The day they agreed to go turned out to be a perfect August day, not too scorching, but not raining either. They went in a taxi and asked if they could go through Richmond Park, which added extra value to the trip as they were able to spot deer sheltering underneath the trees and see the beautiful parkland.
On arrival at Kew they were able to take the Explorer Land Train which stops regularly around the garden, and completing a whole circuit enabled them to get a good overview of the delights of Kew. Particularly pleased to see visit the Pagoda and see the beautifully painted dragons on such an iconic architectural structure. They also meandered through the newly opened Temperate House, which is the oldest Victorian glasshouse in the world.
Julia, who is also an accomplished musician was able to enjoy the amazing Hive, an immersive experience, which aims to capture a sense of being inside a giant beehive, complete with humming sounds. They also enjoyed the artwork displays in the Shirley Sherwood and Marianne North galleries, and finished off the visit in the well stocked shop!
It was such an enjoyable day.
